OCSf Scholarships

The Ohio County Schools Foundation helps support the success of students in Ohio County Schools. The foundation provides scholarship opportunities for Ohio County students pursuing higher education. Students pursuing both two- and four-year degrees have benefitted from these scholarships.  With multiple scholarships tailored to specific student interests there is a scholarship suited for all applicants.

Carolyn Walker Scholarship
Applicant to be any young man or woman who is a graduating senior from Wheeling Park High School, who has participated in an organized school sport, possesses good academic credentials and who would otherwise be unable to attend college without assistance. 

CR “Dick” Dei Memorial Scholarship
Applicant must be a current member of the WPHS Track Team 

Donald E & Eleanor S Wilson Memorial Scholarship
Have a pattern of extracurricular participation. Enroll in and attend any West Virginia Community College, College or University in a major consistent with technology/mathematics/science preparation at the high school. 

Dustin Owen Gebhard Memorial Scholarship
Active members of the WPHS Music Program. Must be a U.S. Citizen. Attended (4) years at WPHS. Participate in swim, track, or cross country. Member of National Honor Society. 

Edward C Gaughan Scholarship
Pursue a degree as a professional educator. Carry a 3.50 or higher overall GPA. A written essay in which the role of an educator as a personal model or mentor is described. 

Eric Carder Memorial Scholarship
Any young man or woman who is a US citizen and a legal resident of Ohio County in WV, and a member of the current graduating class of WPHS. 

Erin Brookes Memorial Cheering Scholarship
Applicant must be a WPHS Cheerleader his/her senior year. 

Frank Dumas Scholarship
Participated on WPHS Tennis Team for at least (2) years. 3.0 or higher GPA. 

Harry Loyal Jones & Jean DeLo Jones Award
Plan to be or are a Member of an active or reserve component of the United States Military Services, including ROTC, military academies, and similar officer procurement programs. Show promise of academic, athletic, and leadership potential. 

Heather Miller Memorial Scholarship
Must be enrolled in an accredited School of Nursing. 

Ihlenfeld Family Journalism Scholarship
Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, plans to attend college, and enter the field of journalism. 

Katherine Wildpret Koss Memorial Scholarship
Accepted into a degree-granting collegiate institution to study elementary education. 

Little Patriots Scholarship
Applicant must have participated in the Little Patriots Organization as a football player or cheerleader. 

Mark Nardone Memorial Scholarship
Applicant must be a member of the WPHS Football Team

Mary Dolan Memorial Scholarship
Applicant must be involved in extracurricular activities at the high school, show a pattern of service to the community, and show economic need. 

Ohio County Association of Retired School Employees Scholarship
Descendant of a present or deceased member of OCARSE. Carry a 3.0 or higher overall GPA. Enrolled in a degree-granting accredited post-secondary educational institution or vocational school, or enlisted in one of the arms of the United States military. Complete an essay addressing the plans for education of which the award will provide support. 

Ohio County Bereavement Scholarship
Applicant must have experienced the loss of a parent/guardian. 

Patrick Latos Strings Memorial Scholarship
Must be an active member of the WPHS Orchestra. 

Phyllis Beneke Visual & Performing Arts Award
Carry a 3.5 or higher overall GPA. Completed at least (4) credits in art, music, theater, and/or radio/tv at WPHS. 

Ron Meyer Memorial Scholarship
Must be a United States Citizen. Demonstrates growth and maturity over the four years of high school in leadership, character, citizenship, and academic achievement. 

Sam Swallow Scholarship
(4) years of mathematics including AP Calculus & OCS recommendation form by a math teacher. Min. 4.0 GPA. 

Sarah Ashley Pennybacker Scholarship
Applicant must plan to major in the field of infant/childcare education, children’s medical services or a related field. 

Sarah Jane Fritz Scholarship
Enroll in, and attend, an accredited college or university and make satisfactory progress. 

Stanley “Stacky” Wojick Memorial Scholarship
Be a current Band student, maintain a 3.0 GPA, and be attending an institution of higher learning. 

Warwood Fine & Performing Arts Award
Be a graduating senior at WPHS. Be a graduate of Warwood or Corpus Christi Schools. Show a pattern of excellence in one or more of the arts programs at WPHS. Show promise of being a continuing producer or consumer of the arts. 

Warwood Middle School Band Scholarship
Participated in Warwood Middle School Band. Member of WPHS Band Program all (4) years. 

Welty/McKinley Vocational Scholarship
Carry a 2.0 or higher overall GPA. Complete a Career and Technical Program as defined by the county graduation policy. 

Wheeling High School Alumni
Must have a 3.0 GPA. Great Grandparent/Grandparent/parent was a graduate of Wheeling High School. 

WPHS Alumni Member Scholarship Award
Applicant must be a child or grandchild of a member of the Wheeling Park High School Alumni Association. Carry a 3.0 or higher GPA 

WPHS Booster Scholarship
Participate in a WVSSAC-sanctioned sport. Perform community service. Essay on "How I have benefited from Extracurricular Activities". Carry a 3.0 or higher GPA.

WPHS Class of ’78 Scholarship 
In memory of our departed classmates, this scholarship is presented to an academically advanced student pursuing a college or trade-based career after graduation from WPHS.
